FRIDA KAHLO!!!

Okay, when I found out that there was going to be a Frida Kahlo exhibition in Denmark, I almost died! She is my favorite artist of all time!!! So I had to check it out... Amazing doesn't even cover how incredible it was... I took a few pictures of some of my favorite things!

She preferred to wear these traditional mexican robes. It's very much her signature look. I was surprised to see how tiny she was! I knew she was short, but...

A little close up. It was quite difficult to get a nice quality shot, because the glass was messing it up. Sorry! If you can't see it it's dark green velvet.

One of her many masterpieces!

There were several huge floor-to-sealing portraits of her. She's holding a pre Colombian figurine. She and her husband, Diego Riviera, collected stuff like that. I'm not sure if it's one of her own, but it could be. :)

One of my favorite portraits of her! I love her pose, slight smile and the red scarf. It reminds me a bit of Mona Lisa, but prettier. I think she has the same mystique.

This is one of her many, many corsets.

One of her hospital gowns from one of the many times she spend time in a hospital. You can't see it in this photograph but when you stand in front of it, you can actually see which hospital it's from, in the neck. And the stains are oil paint! So cool and inspiring...

This is a post mortem picture of her, in her casket. Diego Riviera is the tall man in the middle, with the tan trench coat, dark tie and white button down. She died at 47.

A painting by Diego Riviera. It looks amazing IRL... Trust me. I sometimes hate my phone for what it does to art. :(

A self portrait by Frida Kahlo (pencil). I find it so incredibly beautiful, with the expression, the wavy, raven hair and the slight twist of the hip... :)

Another one of the great ones!

One of her more simple dresses.

My favorite one of the huge portraits. She looks so pretty!

A photo of her when she was pretty young. I really like this one too.

And one of her when she was a bit older...

Well that was it! I hope you enjoyed this just a tiny bit as much as I did!

MORE SEWING!!!

Very recently I was at my fabric store and, and have to admit, I splurged pretty hard... I feel a bit guilty. But I really feel like my money is spend very well. The clothes I sew for myself is something I wear till it falls apart. Literally.

Well, on to the "stuff"!

When I saw this print it was absolutely love at first sight! Some might call it ugly, fugly even. But I love it! Obviously I love spacey stuff... But I really dig the unusual colours. I think mint goes so amazingly well with my blue-black hair. It's a super soft jersey, so it's very comfy but also falls heavy and flattering. Perfect combination! :D

A little close up!

I bought enough to make two. But I made a train on the second one.

I also bought some even softer, red jersey. The colour is a super strong and popping, orangey red. It looks super glamorous on. :) You can't see it when it's on the hanger but it has a TON of fabric in the skirt. Almost all the fabric is in the back, so it gives a bit of volume in the booty area, which my flat-ish butt doesn't mind! :P There are no pleats in the front but you can't really see that in the pictures, because the weight of the fabric drags it down.

And a close up of the back. You may get a sense of how much fabric there is. It weighs a ton but looks pretty! ^_^ On all the dresses I made the sleeves a bit too long. I think it gives a super elegant look and silhouette. it gives an almost gloved look.

Okay, I had some serious problems making this look even decent on a hanger... This is the best I could do. :( It looks cute on, I swear! Well, it's a black and creme striped maxi skirt, also in jersey, with an exposed silver zipper in the back. I has a double layer of elastics in the waist, just because I was trying out something new. :) I really like that it's black and creme and not navy and white. It's the same old classic, but with a new twist. When I wear it it kinda looks circusy, because my style is getting a bit gypsy inspired, I think. :) But I don't at all mind the circus vibe.

I guess my camera doesn't like stripes either... : S

Yeah I messed up a little with the zipper, but I didn't really care at that point.

I'm working on a very exciting sewing project, and I can't wait to blog about it! It will be so glorious. A little hint: it's very appropriate for the current holiday... :P

I hope you like it!

Beauty and Hair.

So this is just some stuff I've bought a while ago, but haven't gotten around to blog about yet. Thought I would do that now! :D

First I'm running out of regular face powder. I got this in the believe that it was translucent setting powder, but it's clearly just a regular one... I must have been tired or something... I haven't tried it yet, so I have no idea if I like it.

I've heard so much rave about these masks so I really wanted to try them out... Well, I'm not exactly impressed. The sauna one was really awful. :( It was a self heating thing, and I did NOT enjoy it. And the formula ruined one of my little cotton towels, it totally made big brown stains! :(

Then I splurged a little on some hair stuff! My best friend had been raving about this hair oil, Orofluido. It smelled super nice and looked really nice too, and was quite affordable, so I thought why not. I also found a few other things, like the Aussie leave-in spray. And I've wanted to try the Chi silk infusion for YEARS! When I got the package it reeked this horribly synthetic sweet smell, and no it was not the lollypop, it was the Aussie product... I understand now why it was so cheap. It sure smells like it! :S I don't know if I'll ever get it used, but I'll try I guess...

A pic of what was in the package.

A close up of the Orofluido oil. It smells divine but doesn't really do anything for my hair. My friend was ecstatic about what it did to her hair, my hair was more like: Meh...
But did I mention it smells amazing?! XD Like strong vanilla (in a very good way).

The infamous (smelly) leave-in spray :S ... Maybe it's amazing in my hair, who knows? :)

Annnd the tiny sample of CHI Silk Infusion. Man I love this product! I love that it's for both hair and skin! And I love, love, love the smell! I can't really explain it, but I think it's amazing. :D

I found these super adorable socks at my local store. I remember that I used to wear similar ones as a small child and I loved them! I still do... ^____^

I I found a new version of my favorite leave-in spray, now with UV protection, which is a plus now that I dye my hair black and blue. XD
... And it was on sale...

I found this super cute jewelry the other day. It was very. very cheap and I like the fact that it looks like it too. :P I like how the twisted gold looks kinda ghetto. It'll go nicely with the new cold hair colour. :)

In the early summer I was out thrifting when I found this beauty! It's authentic vintage and absolutely stunning! The pattern is handmade with teeny tiny cross stitches! The inside is lined with creme silk.

I also love how even the metal parts are decorated!

Of course the bottom is decorated too! I can't even... It's sooo pretty!!! >^______^<

I also found these old clasp earrings. They are cheaply made and  were in pretty bad shape, but I'd been looking for this type of earring for a long time. They just doesn't make this style anymore... The red plastic "pearls"(?) were so scuffed to the point that they looked almost white! But I gave them a few coats of clear nail polish and they ended up looking like this! :D The metal contains nickel so I gave the entire earring a few good coats as well. I think they look so elegant and chic, and they costed me pretty much nothing. :) The way I like it!

Some time ago I bought some ribbon! I like the dusty rose, and I always love lace!

I like the look of a ribbon tied in the collar of a button down. (Sorry about the weird lighting in this pic, the sun was suddenly super strong.)

Some time ago I was at a local flea market and found some vintage chokers! I love the black beads. :)

And look at the multicoloured rhinestones on the lock! I think it's a very nice detail. And I love the gold with the black. The black beads has a blue-greenish sheen, kinda like oil slick...

I also found this lacey-crochet looking choker also with black beads.

When I saw this delicate necklace I immediately thought of Holly Golightly! The scene from 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' where Audrey Hepburn wears all pink with a pink tiara and jewelry. I really wanted it, and when I learned how cheap it was I found no justifiable reason to why I shouldn't buy it! So I evidently did, and I've worn it a lot! I still love it. I like the almost white silvery metal.

I really hope you enjoyed!

I LOVE FALL!!!

Denmark has a pretty cold climate, so most danes are always complaining about the weather. The summers are known for being rainy and chilly (yet sunny), very like the british and swedish. I happen to really intensively love that type of weather; I love rain, a grey and cloudy sky and a bit of thunder. That makes me really, really happy. So I always celebrate when the leafs turn colour and sheds, and more and more days are dominated by rain etc.
This is a few pictures of my street in my favorite season!

Ahh, I just love me some nice dramatic clouds! And It's so wonderful with a pair of nice home knitted socks and a warm cup of tea! I bought this floral tea cup as a souvenir from my first visit to Tivoli ever, during the summer.
I like putting some red sugar harts in my tea, I think it looks so cute. Normally I really dislike things that are too cute and pretty, but I like my tea sweet and girly. XD

<3 <3 <3

I also really like fall and winter because I'm very sensitive to light, that's also a reason to why I have such an extensive collection of sun glasses.

A little collective haul!

This is just some stuff I've bought in regular clothing stores, but still high street stuff though. ;)

(Excuse the wrinkliness ! XD)

I love everything about this first cropped t-shirt. The print is just perfect for my life! It reminds me of mystery, and hand reading, and a gypsy lady (I have some "gypsy" blood in my family) that can tell your future. I think it goes well with my new darker look. :P And I really like the detail that the print is cream and not just white.

(From Monki)

I love the LOL print. XD And it has some really pretty colours in it as well.

(From Monki)

The colour of the stones, on the collar, is so pretty, I think! And now I can match the lamp I bought yesterday! XD

(Also from Monki)

So pretty!...

I bought this stripy one way too big... :( And I live too far from the store to wanna bother with returning it. And it was a small store so they probably wouldn't even have the one in my size anymore... But I make it work anyway, and I'm still really happy that I have it! I've actually been looking for a shirt like this, with or without sleeves. I love how it looks with the chest pockets, having horizontal stripes to brake it up at bit and making it more interesting. :)

(From Monki)

I totally fell in love when I saw this super cute sheer button down, with the lovely velvet details on the collar and mid section. So it's very appropriate for everything IMO. :)

(Monki)

This white top with all the beetles is so  me!!! I love everything like this! And it's so soft. :D

(Monki)

I found this top on sale and I love her and her band, so I bought it!... Evidently! :D (She is one of my big red hair idols... XD)

(From H&M)

I also found this blueish pink on sale in a mens store. I love the shade of pink. :)

(A local mens wear store)

I mostly buy shirts, tops and cardigans, because I make the rest myself. I prefer to wear black maxi-skirts, it suits me better than pants and it's easier for my aching hands and fingers. Also, I have a pretty small waist, so NOTHING ever fits me properly. And I know I'm not alone! :)

I hope you enjoyed it! Anyways, thanks for reading! ^_____^
